"If your credit files shows a credit check was carried out by company 'XYZ' AND details of a credit account with them is also on your credit file then this shows other finance companies that you were ACCEPTED by company XYZ".
"However, if your file shows a search by company X but does not show an account with company X then this shows other finance companies that you were DECLINED credit by company X".
